We recognise that some young people require additional support to meet the success criteria. We are responsive to information about learning, and adjust our teaching approaches to better match pupil need. We give choice within activities and provide differing levels of scaffolding within lessons. We have high aspirations for all young people. Our lessons are student focussed.
Very good practice: Adaptive teaching approaches ensures the needs of all pupils are met. Challenge is set appropriately so that pupils are working beyond their current skills whilst providing scaffolding to support them.
Adaptive teaching support happens in a variety of ways:
Teacher support
Peer support
Scaffolds
Adaptive teaching challenge, e.g. via choices within activities
Balance of familiar and less familiar content
Effective use of Support for Learning Assistants to provide targeted interventions and whole class support
Confidential information and individual learning plans are used effectively
