Scheduling posts
As we head in to the third week of the new timetable, you may want to consider scheduling posts in Google Classroom. This is a good way of setting work at a time that suits you, without sharing everything with your class at once.
Assignment deadlines
We've had some valuable feedback from parents regarding a Friday as the most common submission day for assignments. Assignments due in the next 7 days show up on the Guardian Summary, which is emailed out on a Friday afternoon. Whilst the email also shows work that is missing, some parents have commented that Friday deadlines mean they don't have the opportunity to speak to their child about the work that is due in the future. A deadline of a Wednesday or Thursday may increase engagement as work due the following week would be included in the Friday email.
Guardian summaries update
A record number of parents and carers have signed up for Guardian summaries. Whilst we are remote learning, the CLASSWORK and HOMEWORK prefix is less necessary. Please start an assignment with OPTIONAL if the task is not mandatory, for example and optional extension task or opportunity in the whole year group Google classroom. Please also remember that work not turned in by the deadline is highlighted as missing in the guardian summary - optional assignments should be returned to all young people after the deadline.
